Undergraduate student from UNIPORT fatally stabs girlfriend in Edo.


 Edo State Police Command detained a 24-year-old final-year student named Victor Ochonogor from the University of Port Harcourt, accused of fatally stabbing his girlfriend, Success Regha, on Monday.

Ochonogor, who is pursuing Applied and Industrial Chemistry, allegedly committed the crime at a residence on Osahon Street, Ogheghe Quarters, near Sapele Road, Benin City.

The couple reportedly locked themselves inside the house during the eruption of violence, engaging in mutual stabbing.

Muhammed Dankwara, the State Commissioner of Police, disclosed the incident during a Tuesday press conference in Benin, noting that Emmanuel Momoh, the suspect's landlord, reported the incident to the authorities.

Using a knife, Ochonogor is believed to have stabbed the victim in the neck and chest.

According to the suspect's statement to journalists, he and his late girlfriend had been in a relationship for three years. During her visit from Asaba to Benin, she accused him of being a kidnapper, resulting in his anger and subsequent actions.

Furthermore, Etinosa Omoregie, associated with the Nigeria Hunters and Forest Security Service, was presented to the media due to alleged murder. The police chief mentioned that the suspect reportedly shot Eric, who later succumbed to injuries in a hospital.

Additional apprehensions by the police involve Efosa Osayande, 31, arrested for reportedly sharing explicit photos of his ex-girlfriend, and Friday Igberase, apprehended for rape.
